Ava White's family issue simple request to people of Liverpool
The family of Ava White have sent a simple request to people across the city as they mark the anniversary of her death.
Today marks one year since 12-year-old Ava was murdered after attending a Christmas light switch on in Liverpool city centre on November 25. The schoolgirl was stabbed in the neck by a 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after an argument about him filming her on Snapchat.
Ava's tragic death caused shock and outrage across the region as tributes poured in from loved ones, public figures and strangers. The family have now asked the public to help them to remember Ava by lighting a candle at 6pm on Friday night in her memory.

'Dangerous bully' battered disabled man with beer bottle in hotel robbery
A "dangerous bully" battered a disabled man with a beer bottle in a vicious robbery after spotting him using a Zimmer frame in a hotel.
Stephen Earle, 36, followed vulnerable Peter Keppie into his room at the Scarisbrick Hotel on Lord Street, Southport, at around 10am on August 15 last year. Mr Keppie, also 36, was living at the hotel because it could cater for his mobility needs while he was awaiting an operation for a congenital back problem.
Liverpool Crown Court heard Earle, who was carrying two Desperado beer bottles, shut the door behind them and asked Mr Keppie if he could buy valium from him, and offered to give him cocaine.

Bernice Campbell, prosecuting, told the court: "He began to rifle through Mr Keppie's belongings looking for his medication, before asking for cash and taking Mr Keppie’s bank card from his wallet. The defendant then struck Mr Keppie on the head with the bottom of one of the beer bottles.
"Mr Keppie struggled but the defendant struck him again with the beer bottle on the arm, leg and foot." Read the full story here.
Flanagan Group launch legal action against Liverpool council over new home 'defects'
A well-known building contractor has launched legal proceedings against Liverpool Council following a dispute over a new homes scheme.
Flanagan Building and Maintenance Services Ltd were the lead contractor on the refurbishment of 25 terraced homes on Tunstall Street in south Liverpool. Earlier this year a cabinet report stated that Liverpool council spent around £5,084,000 on the project. The local authority now faces a financial loss after agreeing to sell the site to Pine Court homes for around £3.2m.
An audit committee report recently revealed that the council had decided not to pay money to the contractors following a number of defects on the scheme.

It reads: "Although the houses have been handed over following practical completion, as is commonplace with most refurbishment/new build schemes, a number of defects and outstanding work have been identified during the defects liability period. As the defects and outstanding work have not been remedied by the contractor the Council has not released the retention monies it is holding and the contractor has instigated proceedings against the Council as a result."
A cabinet report from August this year stated that Flanagan Building and Maintenance Services Ltd were the contractors on the site. Read more here.
