The full autopsy report for the second Kansas mom found buried in a freezer in a cow pasture after being reported missing on a road trip has been released. Veronica Butler, 27, suffered 30 sharp force injuries, including nine stab wounds. Ten wounds indicated self-defense. The report suggested her death was quick and likely occurred before being placed in the freezer.
Jilian Kelley, 39, the other missing mom, also had multiple sharp force trauma injuries, including stab wounds. She, too, appeared to have died before being placed in the freezer. Both women were last seen on March 30, heading to pick up their children.
Four suspects were taken into custody in connection to the murders, with a fifth arrested shortly after. The suspects belonged to an anti-government group and reportedly had motives related to gaining custody of the children.
Adams, one of the arrested women, is said to be the grandmother of Butler's children. The state is pushing for a joint preliminary hearing for all defendants, alleging they conspired in the murders.
The hearing for most suspects is set for Dec. 17, with Grice, who waived his right to a preliminary hearing, scheduled for Feb. 18, 2025.
