The Auto Fire in Ventura County has led the National Weather Service in Los Angeles to issue a detailed forecast for the affected area. The dry air prevailing in the region has caused an increase in winds across the fire zone. The current forecast indicates that winds could reach speeds of up to 45 mph by Tuesday morning.
Although the winds are expected to diminish through Tuesday afternoon, another surge in wind speeds is anticipated overnight into Wednesday morning. The area where the Auto Fire is burning is under an 'extremely critical' fire weather alert, the highest level designated by the Storm Prediction Center. This alert was in effect on Monday and is projected to remain at the same level of threat on Tuesday.
The Auto Fire zone falls under a 'Particularly Dangerous Situation' red flag warning that spans parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. This warning is scheduled to come into effect around 4 a.m. PT on Tuesday and will remain in place until noon PT on Wednesday.
