Residents in Victoria’s centre-west are being urged to “monitor conditions”, after firefighters lose control of a planned burn in Hepburn National Park earlier this week.
The fire began as a planned burn on Thursday, and was declared as a bushfire on Friday. More than 90 hectares have already been burnt, according to Vic Emergency.
A Watch and Act warning was issued on Saturday for residents living in or near Musk Vale, Sailors Falls, and Sailors Hill in a Facebook Post written by the Country Fire Authority (CFA).
The CFA stated that residents should be prepared to leave, as the fire is “not yet under control” and that it is travelling “slowly” from Black Jack Track towards Victoria’s south-east.

As of April 13, the strength of the bushfire has “decreased” slightly, although the current dry and windy weather conditions still remain a strong risk.
“Although fire behaviour has decreased, and the fire is not currently spreading, the warm and windier conditions expected today mean conditions may change,” the CFA wrote in a new Facebook Post on Sunday morning.
“Firefighters have worked through the night to strengthen containment lines to prepare for increased fire behaviour.
“The situation can change at any time. You must monitor conditions and be ready to act.”

More than 100 fire authorities — including both ground and aircraft personnel — have been deployed to help battle the ongoing fire.
Any residents living in or near Musk Vale, Sailors Hill, and Sailors Falls are urged to monitor the situation.
