Austrian FA denies Ralf Rangnick move as Man United fans give shock Cristiano Ronaldo verdict

Rangnick not approached for national team job

The Austrian FA has clarified that no contact has been made with Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick regarding the national team job. There had been reports that their sporting director had met with Rangnick.

However, this was quickly rubbished by the Austrian FA - known as the OFB. Former Austria head coach Franco Foda was dismissed from his position following the nation’s World Cup play-off semi-final defeat to Wales.

Rangnick has connections in Austria after previously working as a director at RB Salzburg. However, it looks like he won’t be returning to take up the national team job any time soon.

United fans deliver shock Ronaldo poll result

The majority of Manchester United fans who voted in a Manchester Evening News poll have said they do not want Cristiano Ronaldo to be offered a new deal. The Portugal megastar has netted 18 times this campaign after penning a two-year deal at Old Trafford last summer.

However, more than half of those who cast their vote said they would not like to see this season's top scorer sign a new deal, if offered. Ronaldo has often been the subject of criticism, with United now outsiders for a top-four finish.

Some have suggested his reluctance to press has had an impact on the team’s overall playing style. They also point to the seemingly low morale within the squad as a result of his arrival impacting team cohesion.
