One person has died and dozens have been left injured after a horrific train crash in Austria.
The passenger train derailed outside Vienna this evening, two spokespeople for the Red Cross confirmed.
The cause of the tragic incident near the town of Muenchendorf, south of the Austrian capital, is not yet known as images of the train overturned emerged.
Three of the dozens of injuries were thought to be serious.
The accident reportedly happened shortly after 6pm local time on the Pottendorfer line.
The uninjured passengers were taken to the Munich Village disaster relief centre of the Red Cross.
Reports said that huge numbers of rescue workers had been deployed to the scene alongside the emergency response which includes four rescue helicopters.
Images from the scene suggest at least one carriage has flipped over.
