An Australian woman has been killed and her daughter injured following a car accident in Sri Lanka.
The woman is believed to be a 67-year-old Indian-born Australian woman from Sydney.
Sri Lanka police media spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa confirmed her identity and that of her daughter.
"Her 30 year-old daughter, who was also travelling in a hired taxi, [was] injured and getting treatment at hospital. She is out of danger," Mr Thalduwa said.
The woman and her daughter were believed to have been travelling in Hemmathagama, approximately 80 kilometres north-east of the capital Colombo, when the accident occurred.
In a statement to the ABC, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said consular assistance is being provided to the family of an Australian woman killed in a car accident in Sri Lanka.
