Australian rock band Psychedelic Porn Crumpets cancel Koko gig after singer bitten in face by dog

An Australian rock band has been forced to cancel its sold-out gig at Camden’s Koko on Tuesday after its lead singer was bitten in the face by a dog.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets had been due to play the venue on Tuesday evening, but they have since been forced to cancel their UK and EU tour dates while singer Jack McLaughlin undergoes surgery.

In a message to fans on Instagram from hospital, McLaughlin said he needed surgery to have his “chin scraped out” and “infection removed” from a dog bite.

He said: “They’ve got me hooked up on a drip here. I’ve basically got to get my chin scraped out and get all the infection out from a dog bite.

So I feel awful that we have to cancel the shows heading into Europe but we’re planning on coming back and we’re going to try and reschedule everything as soon as we can.

“I’ve been trying everything I can to basically sing but they’re going to have to put me to sleep and it’s going to be a couple of weeks until I can talk properly.”

The psychedelic rock outfit formed in 2014 and have released six albums.

Other planned gigs now having to be rescheduled include Southampton, Paris and Cologne.

“The team is squirrelling away in the background trying to reschedule these dates, please keep hold of your tickets and new dates will be announced shortly,” the band added in a statement.

“Keep Jack in your thoughts and we’ll post an update once he’s out of anaesthesia.”
