Australian beach volleyball player Taliqua Clancy had an unexpected encounter with French President Emmanuel Macron while walking around the athletes' village at the Paris Olympics. Clancy expressed her excitement at the opportunity to see Macron, although she was unable to secure a selfie due to her commitments at a news conference. Clancy, a proud aboriginal athlete, highlighted the significance of the indigenous artwork and design present in the village.

Clancy, along with her teammate Mariafe Artacho del Solar, who were silver medalists at the Tokyo Games, shared their positive impressions of the village, which accommodates over 14,000 athletes and officials. The village, located in the suburb of Saint-Denis, offers a safe and vibrant environment for athletes participating in the Paris Games and the upcoming Paralympics.

The village features various amenities, including a large dining hall with international cuisine, training facilities, a polyclinic, prayer rooms, and an anti-doping center. Athletes from different countries appreciated the opportunity to interact freely without COVID-19 restrictions, contrasting the atmosphere with the previous Tokyo Games.

American men's rugby sevens team captain Kevon Williams expressed readiness for their upcoming match against host France at the Stade de France, anticipating a thrilling experience in front of a sell-out crowd. Meanwhile, beach volleyball players are set to compete against the backdrop of the iconic Eiffel Tower, with Clancy and Artacho del Solar eagerly anticipating the electric atmosphere of their matches.
