Australia star Matthew Wade in epic IPL tantrum after controversial LBW dismissal

Australia star Matthew Wade has been reprimanded by the match referee over his furious reaction to being given out LBW in the Gujarat Titans' IPL clash With Royal Challengers Bangalore.

During the final over of the powerplay, Wade was hit on the pads while attempting a sweep shot off the bowling of his compatriot Glenn Maxwell. Wade was given out LBW by the umpire but immediately reviewed the decision, adamant that the ball had hit his bat first.

And on the replay, the ball certainly appeared to deviate when it travelled past his bat, suggesting Wade had in fact hit the ball. However, ultra-edge did not show a significant spike and third umpire Nitin Menon decided that was enough to let the decision stand.

All three commentators, Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith and Simon Doull believed Wade had hit the ball, with Doull saying: "Wow! Wow, wow, wow. Clearly the ball changed direction there, so I'm not sure what's happened.

"The unfortunate nature of it is that he has to disappear. He'll be frustrated and rightly so, I feel."

And Wade was visibly shocked by the decision, shaking his head in disbelief as he walked off the field. Once he reached the dressing room, a furious Wade angrily threw down his helmet and swung his bat.

His Titans side went on to lose the match by eight wickets and Wade was let off with a reprimand for his behaviour after admitting an offence. Speaking after the match, Titans skipper Hardik Pandya said: "I think it was a slight… on Ultra Edge it was there, right?

"I don't know from the big screen it was not [clearly] visible. You can't fault [anyone]. If the technology is not helping, I don't know who's going to help.

"Obviously it is nothing personal from anybody. Most of the time it works and most of the time the right decision is taken."
