Archer Ryan Tyack's campaign for a third Olympics is on target after he helped Australia score an important win at the Pacific Games.

Tyack, who was Australia's flag bearer for the opening ceremony at Honiara in the Solomon Islands, partnered with Laura Paeglis to win the mixed teams event at the Games.

It was an Olympic qualifier, meaning Australia has secured a mixed team quota for the Paris Games.

The win also ensures an individual male and female quota spot at the Olympics.

Tyack, 32, won bronze in men's team at the Rio Olympics and also competed at the Tokyo Games.

Paeglis and Tyack beat New Zealand 6-0 in the Pacific Games final, scoring 110 out of 120 over their three sets.

"I'm really happy that we stepped up to the plate on the right day, we shot well in both our matches and got the result we came here for," Tyack said.

"Laura and I have shot together pretty much all this year, we've got some good experience going forward and hope to follow that through."

Paeglis, 20, was outstanding in her first Olympic qualifying event, shooting 55 out of 60.

As Paeglis noted, she and Tyack have not confirmed their own Games selections - but now they know those berths are secure.

"My phone is blowing up, lot of friends and family seeing what happened, I'm sure they're all ecstatic," she said.

"It feels good knowing Paris is that little bit closer. We still need to earn our selection, I just need to keep shooting well."

Australian boxers can also earn quota berths for Paris at the Pacific Games when their competition starts next Tuesday.
