Australian forward Jack White's NBA dream is still alive after he was taken with the first overall pick in the 2023 G League draft.
White was selected by the Texas Legends but had his rights traded to the South Bay Lakers.
The 26-year-old will join the Los Angeles-based team - which is affiliated with the NBA's LA Lakers - during the upcoming G League season.
White became the seventh Australian to win a NBA championship when he featured in the Denver Nuggets' 2022-23 success.
He then signed a two-year deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder this season but was waived during the pre-season.
The Thunder's tough call came in the same week fellow Australian Xavier Cooks was cut by the Washington Wizards.
There are still nine Australians on NBA rosters this season, led by OKC star Josh Giddey and the Brooklyn Nets' Ben Simmons.
White, who was part of the Australian Boomers' 2023 FIBA World Cup campaign, was previously on a two-way deal with Denver.
It meant he also played with their G League affiliate Grand Rapids Gold, averaging 20.9 points, 9.6 boards, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in 14 games.
