West Australians Mitchell Marsh, Ashton Agar and Josh Inglis have been picked in the Australian squad for the team's first tour of Pakistan since 1998.

The squad retains the majority of those who played in the successful Ashes series, with Marsh, Agar, Inglis and spinner Mitchell Swepson the only players who did not feature against England.

Selector George Bailey said the squad was picked to cover all bases heading into the unique Pakistan conditions.

"This squad covers for all scenarios including the conditions given it has been such a long time since Australia was last in Pakistan," Bailey said.

"With several subcontinent tours and a one-day World Cup in India on the near horizon this is a great first-up challenge for the group after the successful home Ashes series.

"It's also a very historic tour given the length of time since an Australian side last toured Pakistan."
