Australia hit with Ashes 'cheating' claim by seething Lord's crowd as Usman Khawaja and England fan get into it

Australia cricket star Usman Khawaja had words with a peeved England cricket fan as he headed for lunch as a heated second Ashes test at Lord's threatened to boil over.

Punters in the iconic London stadium had been left incensed over the incident which led to England batsman Jonny Bairstow being dismissed with his side on the march amid an improbable comeback. The England star was stumped by Alex Cairney in a move which many within the ground believed was a cheap move. Chants of 'Same old Australia, always cheating' rained down as Ben Stokes and Co chase 128 runs to level the series at 1-1.

But the real drama followed as Khawaja stopped for words with a member of Lord's long room - a section for patrons which the visitors pass through back to the changing rooms. Security stepped in but it was the latest flashpoint of a rivalry which has spanned generations. Australia remain in control and the favourites to secure a second straight win to leave England's daring Bazball strategy needing a rethink at present.
