‘Australia doesn’t have wrestling’: Watch Islam Makhachev, Alexander Volkanovski verbally spar before UFC 284

Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski are both brimming with confidence ahead of their title showdown at UFC 284. They made that much clear in a joint interview Monday.

Lightweight champion Makhachev (23-1 MMA, 12-1 UFC) defends his title against featherweight champ Volkanovski (25-1 MMA, 12-0 UFC) in Saturday’s headliner at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.

Both men are riding incredible winning streaks as Makhachev looks to dethrone Volkanovski as the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC, and Volkanovski eyes champ-champ status.

On ESPN’s most recent “DC & RC” episode, host Daniel Cormier interviewed both men as they discussed the fight while also throwing a few verbal jabs at each other. You can watch the full segment in the video above.
