Rangers are reportedly keen on Arsenal defender Auston Trusty as Michael Beale looks to rebuild his squad for next season.
The Light Blues boss admitted after the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic last weekend that a revamp of his squad will be needed over the summer if he is to close the gap to Ange Postecoglou's side at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Following yesterday's 1-0 win against Aberdeen at Ibrox, Beale was asked how many players he would need in the transfer window, however he would not be lured into giving a number.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, Trusty is high on Beale's list as he attempts to bolster his defence in the close season. The USA international, 24, signed for Arsenal last year from Colorado Rapids but was sent straight back on loan. This campaign he has spent time on loan at English Championship side Birmingham City where he has been a regular.
It's believed Rangers would have to pay in the region of £2 million for Trusty's signature in the summer window. Trusty, who won Birmingham City's player of the year this season, featured in all but two games for the Midlands side this season. He also chipped in with four goals.
He made his debut for the USA in March this year when he played 90 minutes in a 7-1 win against Grenada.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail about what next season might hold, Trusty said: "A lot is to come in the future but as a footballer those are problems you want. It’s all a good thing. As a player you want to play with the best, wherever that is. Right now the Premier League is probably the best league in the world so that is obviously the goal for myself and my future."
