Austin Reaves says Rockets and Spurs were interested in him

A few weeks ago, the Los Angeles Lakers’ top free agency priority was keeping Austin Reaves on a new contract. Although many expected them to succeed in doing so, there was some doubt they would pull it off.

The expectation was that another team would offer Reaves, who was a restricted free agent, a contract worth up to $100 million over four years, and that the Lakers would have to perhaps go through a bit of a financial strain to match the offer.

But as it turned out, he received no other offers, and Los Angeles was able to keep him on a deal that many consider a steal.

Still, the undrafted guard admitted that the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs were interested in him.

Via Lakers Daily:

“Houston, before Fred [VanVleet], and then San Antonio,” Reaves said of other potential landing spots.

This lines up with the reports that were coming out in June about what the market for Reaves could potentially look like.
