Aust men's triples into gold medal match

Australia's men's triples team will bowl for Commonwealth Games gold at Royal Leamington Spa after Barrie Lester, Carl Healey and Ben Twist combined to beat Fiji 26-13.

The trio had surged from 10-3 down against Malaysia to book their spot in the final four in Healey and Twist's Games debuts.

There was no early rust on Monday morning, Australia leading from the front on the quaint Victoria Park lawns, set on the fringes of Birmingham, to sew up a gold medal match berth at midday.

Skip Twist's team led 13-3 lead after nine ends before Fiji earned five on the 12th end to cut the deficit to six.

Australia replied with the next eight shots to snuff out any hope of a comeback as three-time Commonwealth medallist Lester set his sights on a breakthrough gold.

They'll face hosts England in the decider after they ground down Wales 15-5 on the adjoining rink.

Para men's pairs Damien Delgado and Chris Flavel eased past England 14-4 in their semi-final and will aim for gold on Tuesday.

Australian singles hope Ellen Ryan will face Norfolk Island's Shae Wilson in the blue riband gold medal match later on Monday.
