Australia's ODI side could set for some minor tweaks for three ODIs against world No.1 ranked New Zealand as coach Andrew McDonald tinkers with lineups one year out from the World Cup.
The Australians made one change during a 2-1 series win over Zimbabwe this week with Mitch Marsh returning to Perth to nurse a minor ankle injury.
Ashton Agar replaced him after skipper Aaron Finch alluded to batting deep before the series with allrounders Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Marsh all part of the victorious side.
Ahead of three ODIs against the Kiwis in Cairns beginning on Tuesday, McDonald said Australia's 50-over matches between now and the World Cup in India will see some adjustments to their starting side.
"You'll see probably the balance of our team started to shift from game to game at times, just making sure that we're covering all the bases," he said.
"We haven't got a hell of a lot of cricket leading into that 2023 World Cup. We've got about 20 games and now that's diminished into the teens.
"We haven't gotten many opportunities to make sure that we're ready and prepared for that.
"We feel as though the personnel that's here is going to underpin that with a couple of the obvious people that are missing as well."
Australia's ODI series against New Zealand at Cazalys Stadium also includes matches on Thursday and Sunday.
