Australia's Matt Graham was part of a first for World Cup mogul skiing, with his bronze medal in the dual event in Kazakhstan part of a "dad podium".

Graham celebrated for the first time this season with gold medallist, Canada's all-time great Mikael Kingsbury and Japan's silver medal-winning, Ikuma Horishima, with the trio becoming first-time fathers just prior to the 2024-25 campaign.

A Pyeongchang Olympic silver medallist in 2018, the World Cup medal was Graham's 27th podium of his career.

In dual moguls skiers go head-to-head with the winners advancing, with Graham facing young Korean Daeyoon Jung in the match-up for bronze.

The 30-year-old three-time Olympian scored 22 points to 13, which was his second dual mogul podium of the season.

The peerless Kingsbury was victorious 21-14 in the gold medal battles with Horishima, collecting his 98th World Cup triumph after also taking gold in the singles event which was cut short due to heavy fog with results reverting back to the qualification round.

"It's great to be back on the podium," said Graham, from the NSW Central Coast.

"We have been knocking on the door to have the dad podium all season.

"Two times we have finished 1-2-4, so to get 1-2-3 is pretty awesome.

"I was feeling the pressure a little at the top, it was running through my head, but I had to tell myself to land the top air, ski a run and let it happen from there in the final dual."

Cooper Woods also performed well finishing seventh, after losing to Kingsbury in the quarter-finals, while the two Australians both finished top eight in the singles event.

The final World Cup is next weekend in Livigno, Italy, which will host the Winter Olympics in just under a year's time, before the season finishes with the World Championships in St Moritz, Switzerland at the end of March.

Reigning Olympic gold medallist Jakara Anthony remains sidelined after breaking her collarbone.

In snowboard cross Josie Baff won her 12th World Cup medal, taking bronze in a thrilling final in Erzurum, Turkey.

On a long demanding course, Baff started strongly winning her quarter-final and then went through to the big final medal round after crossing the line in second place in the semi.

She was just pipped for silver by Lea Casta of France, while Great Britain's Charlotte Bankes took gold.

"This has been the most demanding course so far on tour" said the 22-year-old Baff from Jindabyne in the NSW Snowy Mountains.

"The high altitude has really tested a lot of us with the base level around 2500m. The course was fast too, so I'm happy to end the day with another podium."

Belle Brockhoff was 11th in her first event of the season returning from a serious arm injury while Mia Clift was 13th, followed by Amber Essex.

Baff will back up in the team's event with Cam Bolton, who was the best-placed Australian in the men's event in 16th.
