Aurelien Tchouameni sends Todd Boehly £83m transfer message as Chelsea plot 'A-list' overhaul

Chelsea transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni has sent Todd Boehly an update on his future ahead of the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

The AS Monaco midfielder has featured 33 times in Ligue 1 this season, directly contributing to four goals. Tchouameni's impressive displays have guided his side to within touching distance of Champions League qualification.

His impressive displays have attracted the attention of a handful of top European sides, with the Blues among those interested. Tchouameni was on the west London side's transfer shopping list in the summer. Still, the board opted against signing the France international because they felt he could've done with another 12 months of development, as per The Athletic.

Thomas Tuchel's side, who football.london understands have spent more time keeping an eye on the starlet than any other club, and have since been left to pay the price for not securing Tchouameni's signature earlier. According to French outlet FootMercato, Liverpool are interested in hijacking Chelsea's move for the Frenchman.

Though it may seem that the Monaco star is heading for a move this summer, he spoke about his potential exit and threw a blanket of doubt as to whether a transfer was on the cards. The £83m-rated midfielder claimed that he could stay put if he qualifies for the Champions League with the French side.

"I am contracted here until 2024 with the option until 2025. We'll see what the future has in store for me. The transfer window is always a period where lots of things can happen," said Tchouameni speaking after Monaco's win on Friday, as reported by the Daily Mirror. "Yeah, why not? The elimination last year stuck in my throat. Playing Champions League football with Monaco isn't something that would displease me."

Boehly, who agreed to a £4.25billion deal to buy Chelsea ahead of the clash with Wolves, is expected to 'push for A-list signings' this summer to earmark the club's new era, according to the MailOnline. Tuchel's side are already playing catch-up, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen set to leave at the end of their contacts, handing the LA Dodgers owner an incentive to splash the cash.
