Seventh seed Nuno Borges needed three sets to get past Luciano Darderi before Zizou Bergs beat qualifier Isaac Becroft and Roberto Carballes Baena edged past Daniel Altmaier.

French superstar Gael Monfils – who is starting his 22nd season as a professional – will also provide plenty of entertainment for the fans, while the giant Reilly Opelka arrives in good form having beaten Novak Djokovic last week in Brisbane.
