Auchencairn Primary pupils opt for pantomime over nativity

Auchencairn Primary kids put on a panto rather than a nativity before the holidays.

Cinderella Rockerfella was a modern take on the fairy tale featuring Rocky – a pop star who wants to give up performing and return to just being Prince Charming.

Much of the rest of the story is familiar, with Buttons being Cinders’ best pal and having a dog called Teaser who, by the end, has been given the gift of speech by the fairies.

(Jim McEwan)

Dan Deeny is Rocky’s theatrical agent who takes on Buttons and Taser as the next big thing after Rocky goes back to being a prince and marries Cinders.

The village hall was packed for the event with families and friends who all thoroughly enjoyed the panto - joining in with enthusiasm when Fairy Nasty boots was on stage. The ugly sisters were hilarious and Cinders, Buttons and Rocky performed and sang beautifully.

Mrs Blamire from Dalbeattie Learning Campus kindly lent some costumes and others were made by staff and parents. It was a brilliant community effort and worth all the hard work pupils and staff put into the performance.
