As dozens of celebrities showed up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live, fans were surprised to see Aubrey Plaza make an appearance following the death of her husband, Jeff Baena.
In the special, Plaza was seen introducing musical acts Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard performing “Nothing Compares 2 U”. It was the first time the Parks And Recreation actor had been seen in public since her husband Baena passed away from suicide on January 3.
During her cameo, Plaza wore a black blazer, black pants and a tie dyed t-shirt. Although her appearance was brief, fans quickly recognised the significance of the tie-dye shirt as a tribute to her husband.

Back in 2021, Plaza went on The Drew Barrymore Show and shared the unconventional story of how her and Baena tied the knot during the pandemic after 10 years together.
“We got married on a whim, literally decided at like 5 pm and got married at like, 8:30,” Plaza explained to host Drew Barrymore.
“Jeff got really into tie-dyeing during the quarantine, so, I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pyjamas that he had made for us.”

Naturally, fans of the comedian have praised her for her bravery in making an appearance six weeks after her husband’s passing.
“Aubrey Plaza just quickly letting us know she’s doing okay at SNL50 has me sobbing,” wrote one X (formerly Twitter) user.
“So incredibly proud of this woman for being her truest self and keeping to whatever makes her feel comfortable,” said another.
“It can’t have been easy, but before any of the other moments of her incredible career, Aubrey Plaza was a SNL intern. Her return for this night was special for many reasons,” wrote another.

Following Baena’s passing, Plaza gave a statement.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.
Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena met in 2014 and continued to work together on films such as Life After Beth and The Little Hours. They got married in 2021.
