Attorney General Pam Bondi Calls For Removal Of Anti-Israel Protesters

Pam Bondi, President-elect Donald Trump's choice to lead the Justice Department as attorney general, appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee for her confirmation hearing, at the Capitol in Washi

Attorney General Pam Bondi recently made headlines at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) by advocating for the removal of anti-Israel student protesters who are in the United States on visas and posing threats to American students. Bondi emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of all students, stating that those who engage in such behavior should be expelled from the country.

Bondi's remarks were met with agreement from Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who echoed her sentiments. The Attorney General, who assumed office on February 5, highlighted the need to uphold the rule of law and condemned the anti-Israel protests as being far from peaceful.

The protests, which erupted on college campuses across the nation in response to the conflict in Israel, saw a surge in instances of antisemitism and raised concerns among Jewish students regarding their safety. Incidents such as the takeover of Columbia University's Hamilton Hall and demands for divestment from Israel at prestigious institutions like UCLA, Harvard, and Yale underscored the intensity of the demonstrations.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz supports Bondi's stance on removing threats to American students.

Anti-Israel protests on college campuses raise concerns about safety and antisemitism.

The escalation of protests following Hamas' war in Israel in 2023 led to a climate of fear for Jewish students, with reports of antisemitic graffiti and warnings for students to leave campuses for their own protection. Bondi also expressed her apprehension about the politicization and challenges within the Department of Justice under the previous administration, emphasizing her commitment to addressing these issues.

Despite the existing challenges, Bondi noted that many DOJ employees are supportive of her efforts to combat crime and restore integrity to the department. She underscored the dedication of law enforcement professionals to upholding justice and emphasized her administration's focus on ending the weaponization of the DOJ.
