During a recent confirmation hearing, Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi stated that she would evaluate potential pardons for individuals convicted of crimes related to the January 6 riot on a case-by-case basis. In response to questioning from Senator Dick Durbin, Bondi emphasized that she would approach each case with careful consideration and provide advice to the president as needed.
Bondi, a former prosecutor, highlighted her commitment to upholding the law and condemned any acts of violence against law enforcement officers. She reiterated that her decision-making process would be guided by a thorough review of the facts in each case, emphasizing her dedication to fairness and justice.

When pressed further about specific cases involving violent assaults on police officers during the riot, Bondi acknowledged that she had not yet reviewed any case files. However, she affirmed her willingness to assess each file if called upon to advise the president on potential pardons.
President-elect Donald Trump has previously indicated his intention to consider pardons for individuals involved in the US Capitol riot. As the transition of power continues, the question remains as to which individuals among the convicted rioters, defendants awaiting trial, and fugitives may ultimately receive clemency.
