YOU can't keep Wheatus frontman Brendan B. Brown away from Australia for very long.
Less than 12 months after supporting Everclear's Art Alexakis on his national solo tour and performing with Wheatus at Pandemonium Festival, Brown is returning to Australia for acoustic shows.
The tour includes a January 26 gig at the Hamilton Station Hotel and January 25 show at Forster-Tuncurry's Bellevue Hotel. Brown will be joined by his partner and fellow Wheatus member, Gabrielle Sterbenz.
Brown is the sole founding member of Wheatus, who scored massive success in 2000 with the single Teenage Dirtbag. The song cracked No.1 on the Australian charts and appeared on the soundtrack of romantic-comedy Loser, featuring American Pie stars Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari.
Wheatus released another four albums between 2003 and 2013, but failed to match the success of their self-titled debut.
RARE SPECK OF GOLD DUST
OPPORTUNITIES to see Newcastle's post-punk band, Dust, are increasingly rare these days as the five-piece's fortunes continue to soar.
In two weeks Dust will be supporting New York post-punk legends Interpol throughout Europe on their 20-year anniversary tour for their album Antics. The tour includes shows at the 3500-seat O2 Apollo in Manchester and Tempodrom in Berlin.
Last year Dust opened for Interpol and UK 2000s hit-makers Bloc Party on their co-headline Australian tour.
On Saturday Dust will be performing to a much smaller audience when they play at High Street record shop, Aggravation Place, as part of the Riverlights Festival in Maitland.
Newcastle synth-punk duo Poltergeist 9000 will support Dust at Aggravation Place.
LOVELY TIME FOR CHURCHILL
ONE-time Newcastle resident and prolific indie-folk artist, Kim Churchill, has released his seventh album It's Lovely To Have You Here. To celebrate Churchill is embarking on a mammoth 84-date tour that will take him around Europe and Australia.
Newcastle fans can catch Churchill at Carrington's Young Street Hotel on January 25.
