A man could stand trial later this year accused of attempted murder after a woman was allegedly stabbed with a machete.
She was left with serious injuries after the incident at a house on Bedford Road in Walton at around 12.15pm on Monday, January 16. Witnesses reported that a male then fled the scene with a "large machete in his trousers" and was seen heading towards the Breeze Hill flyover.
Police closed off the flyover and the Rice Lane roundabout on Rice Lane beneath to traffic before arresting a suspect. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Thomas McClean, of Bedford Road, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court this afternoon, Wednesday, via video link to HMP Altcourse after being charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place in connection with the incident. The 35-year-old was not asked to enter a plea to either count, but a provisional four-day trial was listed for June 19.
He was remanded into custody by Judge Gary Woodhall ahead of a further hearing on March 17. McClean spoke only to confirm his name while wearing a turquoise t-shirt.
A Merseyside Police spokesman previously said: "Detectives have charged a man following a stabbing in Walton on Monday, January 16. At around 12.20pm, we received a report that a woman had sustained stab wounds inside a property.
"A man was later arrested on the flyover on Breeze Hill. The victim is now recovering following hospital treatment."
