Atletico Madrid troll Manchester United over failed Joao Felix transfer bid: ‘Priceless’

Atletico Madrid appear to have poked a little fun at Manchester United on social media tonight.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was widely reported that the Red Devils’ huge €130million (£109.8m) bid for Joao Felix had been firmly rebuffed.

The LaLiga giants have now responded publicly by tweeting a picture of the highly-rated Portuguese forward in training along with the simple one-word caption: ‘Priceless’.

Crisis-stricken United’s reported swoop for Felix comes amid a frenetic late dash for high-profile deals before the summer transfer window closes for business on September 1.

Erik ten Hag is eager to strengthen throughout the spine of the team after a dismal start to the new Premier League season that saw them lose at home to Brighton before being deservedly thrashed 4-0 at Brentford.

Scores of players are being linked with moves to Old Trafford amid a scattergun approach, with Felix and Atletico team-mate Matheus Cunha joining the likes of Chelsea trio Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi on an extensive list of targets.

Ajax winger Antony is another player back in Ten Hag’s sights, with non-stop rumours also linking the likes of Casemiro, Moises Caicedo, Thomas Meunier, Sergino Dest, Yann Sommer and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic with moves to Manchester.

However, a proposed switch for Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot has now fallen through due to a reluctance to meet the French midfielder’s significant wage demands.
