Atletico Madrid president reveals transfer plans amid links to Man United ace Cristiano Ronaldo

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has doubled down on his claim that his club will not be making a move for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester United superstar had been linked with a shock move to the Spanish club despite his legendary status at Real Madrid, where he is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer. Atletico fans made their feelings crystal clear about a potential switch when they unfurled a "CR7 not welcome” banner during a friendly this week.

Ronaldo met with United boss Erik ten Hag to reaffirm his intentions to leave on Tuesday. The club, so far, are yet to change their no-sale stance.

Ronaldo’s options away from Old Trafford look to be thinning, with Bayern Munich backing away and Real Madrid and Chelsea reportedly backing down. Cerezo had already ruled out an Atletico move for the 37-year-old but emphatically underlined this again during the presentation of new arrival Nahuel Molina, stating the club have made their final signing of the summer.

"With this signing, our sports management manages to add the last piece we were looking for," Cerezo said at the right-back’s unveiling. "I repeat to our journalist friends, with this signing, our sports management manages to add the last piece we were looking for."
