The locations for the College Football Playoff national title games are currently set through 2026. However, due to a scheduling conflict, Atlanta, which is not currently set to host a title game between 2023-26, could find itself hosting the 2025 match.
Per The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy, the College Football Playoff is negotiating with Atlanta officials to relocate the 2025 game from Las Vegas to Georgia.
This is a result of a scheduling conflict with the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is also held in Vegas in early January and draws roughly 200,000 visitors to the city, occupying hotel rooms and convention room space.
Via McMurphy:
“There was a request to move CES a week, which wasn’t happening, and Las Vegas asked the CFP to move the title game back a week later,” a source said. “But there was no dice there either.”
As it stands right now, the next four game locations are as follows:
Jan. 9, 2023: Los Angeles
Jan. 8, 2024: Houston
Jan. 6, 2025: Las Vegas (maybe Atlanta?)
Jan. 5, 2026: Miami
If this move takes place, Atlanta would join Miami as the only two cities to host two title games during the CFP’s original 12-year contract.
Atlanta hosted its first national championship in January of 2018, a game Georgia fans remember all-too well. Alabama beat the Dawgs 26-23 in overtime.
McMurphy noted that Vegas would likely get its turn to host the game in 2027.
Although the next playoff contract has yet to be determined, Las Vegas is the favorite to host the 2027 CFP title game, sources said.
