Seven people were killed and 30 others wounded in shootings across Chicago over the weekend.

Twenty-four of those shooting victims, a large majority, were hurt on the South Side. The West Side saw six victims.

Four other shooting victims were wounded in Pilsen, West Town, the Near North Side and Lake View. Three men were shot and wounded early Sunday while walking near the Museum Campus on the lakefront.

Murders are down 10% and shooting incidents are down 16% over the same period last year, according to police statistics. However, shootings and murders are still higher than they were in 2019, before Chicago saw a spike in violent crime.

The weekend was more violent and deadly than last weekend, when six people were killed and 27 other wounded.
