Gary Neville has joked that Manchester United must hinder Liverpool’s chances of achieving an unprecedented quadruple “at all costs”.
The Reds take on bitter-rivals United at Anfield this evening in the Premier League and are one point behind leaders Manchester City with seven matches left to play. Jurgen Klopp’s team are also gunning for the Champions League and FA Cup, to go along with the Carabao Cup they’ve already won this season.
Should Liverpool beat United again - they won the reverse fixture at Old Trafford 5-0 - then they would go two points clear at the top of the table from City, who are due to play Brighton at home on Wednesday night.

United are battling for a place in the top four but Neville has spoken ahead of tonight’s game of other potential motives for his former club.
“Yeah, at all costs (stop Liverpool winning four trophies),” joked Neville, while on Sky Sports. “I might just slide in tonight, no, that won’t help either."
Neville added: “At the end of the day, they’re a great team and they’re doing great things. I don’t even think they’re at their best, I spoke to a couple of Liverpool fans on the way in, but you can’t be.
“You can’t be at your best when you’re going for every trophy, and every three days there’s a game. What you’ve got to be tough and resilient, hang in there and get the ball up to your quality players and have consistency.
“They’ve got all of those things and they’ve got a massive spirit.”
