
Tokyo: Shitsui Hakoishi from Japan becomes the oldest woman barber in the world. She is 108-year-old.
Shitsui, a hairdresser by profession, won Guinness World Records and was formally presented with an official certificate.
Brief Profile
Born on 10 November 1916 to a family of farmers in Nakagawa, Hakoishi decided to become a barber at age of 14 and moved to Tokyo.

Thus her career has spanned nine decades and she says she owes it all to her customers.
“I could come this far only because of my customers,” Hakoishi said.
Filled With Joy
After receiving the recognition by the Guinness World Records this week, Hakoishi said she was very happy at the achievement.

"I’m overwhelmed and filled with joy,” she said.
Shitsui Hakoishi is still going strong. She says she isn’t ready to put away her scissors.
“I am turning 109 this year, so I will keep going until I reach 110,” she said with a smile.
