Many fans of "Astro Bot" are getting excited about potential new content that could come to the game in the future after a never-before-seen speedrun level was showcased at a PlayStation tournament this weekend.
The speedrun level made its debut by showcasing speedrunners exploring the so-far unfamiliar level to try and get the fastest clear time. The never-before-soon stage was the last level the players had to play to secure the finals.
Potential New Astro Bot Content
The two players who made their way to the finals were given five attempts each to set their fastest time across the difficult speedrun level. The finalists used the flower umbrella and slo-mo to speed up the run as much as they could.
At the end of the day, Team Circle's Rhys was able to secure the finals by getting an amazing time of 34.51.6 seconds. He was able to narrowly beat his team's previously impressive 34.84.1 seconds, according to Eurogamer.
However, there was no further details from the commentary team regarding the notion of the general public eventually being able to play the speedrun level that was showcased.
Many fans are now hopeful that developer Team Asobi is not yet finished with bringing new content to the beloved platformer.
The latter was mainly due to how "Astro Bot's credits teased several game collaborations that players have not yet seen in-game.
On top of this, there was a recent social media post that seemed to reveal some new characters in a potential "Tekken" crossover, Game Rant said.
Astro Bot's Success
The rumors come as "Astro Bot" was able to take home the coveted Game of the Year Awards at The Game Awards 2024. Team Asobi's adorable platformer made splashes and became one of the biggest launches of last year.
"Astro Bot" featured various references to outside titles and franchises and served as a sort of a celebration of PlayStation's longstanding history in the video game industry.
Many of the characters in the game take on the appearances of iconic mascots from other games in the brand's past.
Another thing that supports fans' hopes for new content for "Astro Bot" follow Shuhei Yoshida benign give a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle of the PlayStation 5 ship featured in the game.
It was seen to have a lot of Special Bots surrounding it, including one that is not yet currently in the game.
Eagle-eyed fans saw two volcanoes at the top of the picture, just to the left of the "Astro Bot" logo. Right next to them is Kazuya from the "Tekken" franchise fighting with Heihachi.
While the former is acquired by completing Birdy Barrage, the latter is not in the game at all, according to Push Square.
