Astonishing moment Edinburgh youths take over STV report on Ukraine

Boisterous Edinburgh youths were seen interrupting an STV news presenter live on air.

The moment was captured on screen on Saturday as reporter Gordon Chree delivered an update on the Ukraine crisis.

Chree is speaking to the camera when the youth jumps up behind him and appears to try and wave a peace sign.

However, the smiling youngster is moved aside by the news presenter and disappears off the screen.

Chree goes to carry on with his report but one of the lad’s friends, wearing a backpack, is seen jumping up onto a ledge and towering over the presenter and laughing, whilst raising a defiant fist into the air.

The STV news report continues as Chree tries to compose himself.

The television presenter quickly apologised to viewers for the disruption and later took to Twitter to speak of his frustration.

However, he wasn’t pleased that some were trying to make light of the situation.

He said: “I think most people would not regard this as a laughing matter, particularly given the subject matter of the programme.”

As the jokes continued, Chree posted again and complained that he had been ‘assaulted’ at his work place.

Other users on Twitter were not best pleased at this and questioned whether anything of the sort took place.

Another said Chree should have simply ignored them.

One user claimed to have known the family and said the boys faced rough treatment from security guards at the scene.
