Newcastle United are running the rule over Aston Villa winger Tristan Goodridge. The 19-year-old is set to leave Villa and is spending time at United's Academy this month.
The left-winger played the first 45 minutes of Newcastle's derby defeat at Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Friday night. The Magpies were beaten 4-2 on Teesside with Goodridge replaced at half-time by Charlie Wiggett.
But Newcastle may be keen to take a further look at the winger after he scored four goals and made three assists in 17 matches as well as notching in the Papa Johns Trophy for Villa in a 4-2 defeat at Burton Albion.
Goodridge is predominantly a left-winger but can also play wide right and occasionally as a centre-forward if need be. After being signed from AFC Wimbledon the youngster rose the ranks at Villa to play regular football for the Under-18s and then the Under-23s in Premier League 2.
