Aston Villa vs Manchester City Preview, Prediction, Team News and Predicted Lineups

Aston Villa welcome the struggling Manchester City on Saturday afternoon and you can find our preview, prediction, team news and predicted lineups below.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City Preview

Unai Emery’s side have endured a mixed opening to the 2024/25 campaign, as they find themselves in seventh and just three points off top four.

The Villains had been on a run of three straight victories across all competitions before their last Premier League fixture, as they lost 2-1 to Nottingham Forest after wins over RB Leipzig, Southampton and Brentford.

Their recent home form should give supporters huge confidence going into the match, as Villa are undefeated in their last four at home.

As for Manchester City, their away form has been far less impressive than Villa’s home form – with the Cityzens failing to win in their last seven away matches across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola’s side were stunned by their fierce rivals, Manchester United, last time out as two-late goals secured a victory for the Red Devils.

City’s current form has stunned football fans across the globe, as the Champions have won just once from their last 11 matches in all competitions.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City Team News

The Villains have a fairly fresh bill of health for Saturday’s early kick off with Jacob Ramsey the only guaranteed casualty.

Leon Bailey will undergo a late fitness test, with the Jamaican missing Villa’s last two matches in all competitions.

Manchester City will still be without midfield general, Rodri, as the 2024 Balon d’Or winner remains on the sidelined with an ACL injury.

Oscar Bobb is also set to miss the match while the defensive duo of Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake are unlikely tom feature on Saturday.

Aston Villa vs Manchester City Predicted Lineups

Aston Villa: Martinez; Konsa, D. Carlos, Torres, Digne; Tielemans, Onana; Rogers, McGinn, Bailey; Watkins

Manchester City: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Gvardiol; Gundogan, Kovacic, De Bruyne, Silva; Foden, Haaland, Doku

Aston Villa vs Manchester City Prediction

Aston Villa have not lost in four straight home matches across all competitions, but are still heavy underdogs on UK betting sites going into Saturday’s match.

Pep Guardiola will be looking for a response at Villa Park and we expect the champions to show signs of improvement – however a draw seems the most likely outcome.

Prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Manchester City
