Aston Villa vs Man City prediction and odds: City should have far too much for toiling Villa

Followers of this column landed on a brilliant 12/1 winner on Wednesday night after we recommended backing City to win 6-0 so c heck out our 11/8 Aston Villa vs Man City prediction below

The Erling Haaland show hasn't taken long to take the Premier League by storm and the Norwegian hot-shot will be relishing the prospect of facing a porous Aston Villa reaguard that is giving up chances for fun.

City head to Villa Park on Saturday evening as red-hot 4/11 favourites with Betway to pile more misery on Steven Gerrard's struggling side, who are 13/2 to cause the upset.

And, if City are in town then goals are on the cards. Pep Guardiola's side are averaging almost four goals per game in the Premier League so far and there have been at least three goals in seven of the last eight meetings between these sides.

Haaland heads Villa Park on a hat-trick of hat-tricks - something the Premier League has never seen before, and the layers are effectively running for cover when it comes to his scoring odds. Haaland is a prohibitive 8/11 to score at any time and a remarkably short 14/1 to make it three hat-tricks on the bounce - this is peak Ronaldo and Messi territory in terms of scoring odds.

Haaland's scoring record for City is already impressive and so is his data. His non-penalty xG is 5.9 and his average non penalty xG per attempt is 0.28 - a number that would be around 0.1 for a typical striker. Haaland already looks a match made in heaven for City, which is bad news for the rest.

The outlook isn't quite so sunny for Aston Villa, who lost their fourth Premier League game in the month of August when they went down 2-1 at the Emirates on Wednesday night. The scoreline suggests that there wasn't much between the sides but Arsenal should have been out of sight by half-time.

Villa managed just four efforts on Arsenal's goal - one of which was direct from a corner, and Gerrard's inability to get some cohesion into an attacking unit that isn't short of talent, is proving a major issue. Things are little better at the other end of the pitch because the Villa defence are giving up chances for fun - the Gunners racked up 22, and that spells big trouble when the next opponents are a rampant Man City.

Aston Villa vs Man City prediction

This doesn't look good for Villa but the layers are ahead of the game, which is why City are so short to come away with the points.

Villa Park could turn pretty toxic if the hosts fall behind early on - the 'Gerrard out' brigade is already a significant portion of the fanbase - and that could make life very difficult for the Villa players.

With that in mind, the 11/8 about City cruising home and winning without conceding rates a more appealing wager than most.
