Aston Villa suffer triple injury setback ahead of Leeds United clash

Aston Villa are set to miss three of their players due to injury in this evening's clash with Leeds United as Jesse Marsch's squad travel down to Villa Park in the hopes of bringing back all three points.

It's been wondered by many if they'll have newest signing Alex Moreno available for Friday night's match, with the Spaniard signing a three-and-a-half-year deal earlier this week.

But now Villa boss Unai Emery has provided his latest update on the fitness of his squad, including Moreno, with his side set to miss at least three players when they play host to the Whites.

In his press conference ahead of the match against the Whites, Emery said: "John [McGinn] is continuing his progress. Matty Cash is a doubt for tomorrow and Luda [Ludwig Augustinsson] is out. Luda and John are out. Matty is a doubt."

It’s believed that McGinn has suffered a hamstring strain and might miss next week's match against Southampton on top of the match tomorrow.

Augustinsson, who is on loan from La Liga side Sevilla, is nursing an ankle injury, an issue he suffered in the F.A Cup upset against Stevenage last week. He has also been told he's able to cut his loan spell short and return to Spain.

Polish international Cash also hobbled off last week with a fresh groin strain, meaning he'll be another vital part of Emery's side missing.

When asked about Moreno's potential involvement, Emery was vague with his answer but highlighted that it's possible, saying: "Not sure. Not sure yet. Hopefully we have some news about him and maybe it's a positive."

Aston Villa predicted XI (4-4-2): Emi Martinez; Ashley Young, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Lucas Digne; Leon Bailey, Douglas Luiz, Boubacar Kamara, Emi Buendia; Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings.
