Rob Earle believes Leeds United’s victory over Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday proved that Jesse Marsch has the support of his players, and the Leeds fanbase.
Marsch had come under mounting pressure after a run of eight matches without a win and four straight defeats had seen Leeds plummet into the relegation zone.
The Whites pulled off a memorable victory at Anfield to end that wretched run and climb out of the relegation zone and then kicked on with a brilliant comeback to take another three points against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. Earle used Steven Gerrard’s sacking at Aston Villa as an example of a manager losing the trust of his players, and doesn’t believe that Marsch is facing the same dilemma at Elland Road.
“Steven Gerrard didn’t look to me as if he was getting the right tune out of his players, didn’t look as though that relationship was great between the players and Stevie, and obviously it cost him his job,” the former Wimbledon striker revealed on The 2 Robbies podcast.

“I don’t think that’s the case with Jesse Marsch. I thought (last) weekend was a day that showed the players are very much with the manager, and the fans seem like they’re with the manager as well.
“One of the things I love about Leeds and what separates them from other teams. They are bold, yes they push people forward, yes we know if they sat back in a lower block maybe they wouldn’t concede as many goals, but this is Leeds.
“This is like the personality of the club and the way that they’re run. And another thing that stood out to me was just raw energy from Leeds. The raw energy that this team have, that in the end played a part in taking the game away from Liverpool."
