Aston Villa kid Brad Young says life at Ayr United can prepare him to make an impact with the big boys.
The highly rated teenager has swapped home comforts with the English Premiership giants to head north for a season on loan.
And while the 19-year-old striker is confident in his ability to do the business on the park, he knows the time spent maturing as part of Lee Bullen's squad will be just as important.
Young told the Ayrshire Post: "It's a massive chance for me on a personal level and a platform to show what I can do.
"I went out on loan for a few months to Carlisle last season but it was a bit of a struggle in a team that wasn't scoring many goals.
"It was also my first time away from home and probably took a bit of time to adjust, but it's all part of the experience.
"But I feel confident that coming here I am ready to grab this chance with both hands and prove to people what I can do.
"It's a chance for me far away from home to become a man off the pitch and score the goals on it."
Young was part of the Villa youth team at Bodymoor Heath which won the FA Youth Cup in 2021, with Ayr's new man scoring in the final against Liverpool.
Teammate Ben Chrisene scored the other in the 2-1 win that day - and has also moved to Ayrshire on loan to join United's bitter rivals Kilmarnock.
Young said: "When I knew I was coming here I did a bit of research on who the rivals were and that kind of stuff.
"So I fired Ben a message as he's only a few miles up the road now, which is funny how it's worked out.
"When we won the Youth Cup together, our whole team had to deal with a lot of expectation.
"You could tell from the start of the competition that we had a really good chance of winning it because we were going out and battering teams and dominating every game.
"I don't mind expectation or pressure, though, because I back myself to score goals and hopefully I can come here and enjoy a really good season."
