Aslan singer Christy Dignam returns home after 'long time' in hospital

Aslan star Christy Dignam has returned home from a long stay in hospital.

Updating fans today on their beloved Christy, the band took to social media to announce that they were "delighted" to have some good news regarding Christy. They said: "Christy is finally home after a spending a long time in hospital.

"He needs time now to rest and settle back in and build his strength back up.. but he is so happy to be back home and with his family. We ask that you respect Christy and his family’s privacy."

They added: "Welcome Home Christy! You never cease to amaze us with your strength and fight that you give to everything."

The band were forced to postpone their concert in September of this year. The concert was supposed to take place at the 3Arena in Dublin but had to be called off due to a "setback" in Christy's health.

In a statement at the time, the band told ticket holders: "Everything was going so well coming up to our 3Arena show and Christy was doing great. However, he has suffered a set-back with his treatment, and we have now been instructed by his doctors that it is not advisable for Christy to perform this Saturday."

Fans were encouraged to hold onto their tickets as concert organisers worked on organising a new show at the venue. A date for the show is yet to be announced, but fans seem excited at the prospect nonetheless.

One fan commented today: "Great news, loads of rest and TLC and hopefully you will back where you belong again singing your heart out."

Another said: "We all love you [and] please god you [will] be back on the stage when your strong enough."

A third wrote: "Delighted to hear this, wishing you healing and strength Christy... and hopefully get to see you in concert soon."

Christy was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer known as amyloidosis back in 2013 and has undergone several bouts of chemotherapy. A heart-warming video emerged online in September of the star singing Crazy World in the corridor of a hospital.
