Ahead of the live awards ceremony, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants has announced the extended list of restaurants ranked from No.51 to No.100 for 2023.
This year’s 51-100 list welcomes 17 new entries, with restaurants from 17 cities. Bangkok has six places on this list. New entrants are Côte by Mauro Colagreco at No.71 and Wana Yook at No.72.
Lerdtip Wanghin places at No.73, while Gaa is at No.81, Samrub Samrub Thai at No.82 and Nahm at No.98.
Hong Kong leads the rankings with eight places, including three new entries such as Yong Fu (No.54), Ando (No.61) and Estro (No.62). Tokyo is represented by six, including new entries Esquisse (No.67), The Pizza Bar on 38th (No.80) and Hommage (No.91). New entrant L'évo (No.60) is the first restaurant from Toyama to make the list, while August in Jakarta, this year’s recipient of the One To Watch Award, enters the list at No.95. Singapore has six establishments, while Shanghai claims four spots, which also includes new entry Meet The Bund at No.89. Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Mumbai are represented by three restaurants each.
Among the 17 new entries, three are from Hong Kong. Seafood-centric restaurant Yong Fu serves Jiangnan cuisine at No.54, followed by Ando and Estro at No.61 and No.62, respectively. Toyama has a restaurant in the ranking for the first time with L'évo at No.60, a destination that champions local produce to present avant-garde regional cuisine. This is followed by three new restaurants from Tokyo: Esquisse (No.67), The Pizza Bar on 38th (No.80) and Hommage (No.91).
Singapore’s debutants on the 51-100 ranking are Nae:um (No.83), serving modern Korean cuisine, and Julien Royer’s French neo-brasserie Claudine (No.85) — both of which are only just over a year old — followed by the well-established Cantonese restaurant Summer Pavilion at No.86.
Beijing’s Ling Long enters the list at No.77 and Shanghai’s Meet the Bund is a new entry at No.89. Seoul marks its presence on the list with three spots. These include Joo Ok, leading at No.51, and new entrant Eatanic Garden at Josun Palace at No.68.
