ASI to Rename Sambhal's Shahi Jama Masjid as "Juma Masjid"

Uttar Pradesh: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is likely to rename Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal to "Juma Masjid." A new blue board with the updated name, "Juma Masjid", has been prepared and will soon be installed at the site.

Sources confirm the ASI team will place the board outside the mosque shortly. The sign reads: "ASI Protected Monument, Juma Masjid, Sambhal." Currently, the board is kept at the nearby police outpost.

ASI officials state the change clarifies the monument’s historical identity. The blue board highlights ASI’s oversight and informs the public it’s a protected heritage site.
