Former Arsenal defender Ashley Cole admitted he thinks the Gunners have already cost themselves the chance of winning the league title.
Cole, who starred for Arsenal between 1999 and 2006 before leaving for London rivals Chelsea, gave a brutally honest answer when asked for his opinion on the title race.
The 43-year-old, who now works for the FA as a full-time coach within the England setup, was questioned by a fan at St. George’s Park over the recent international break.
He reckons Arsenal, who currently sit nine points adrift league leaders Liverpool after 12 games, have ‘mucked it up’ and gave his preference to the Merseyside challengers.
“Who’s gonna win the league? I’m going to go Liverpool. I think they [Arsenal] have mucked it up, haven’t they? It’s tough.”

Can Arsenal recover from early blip to land first Premier League title in over 20 years?
According to the best football betting sites, Arsenal aren’t out of the title race just yet and everything is to play for.
Priced as 3/1 second-favourites with most firms, the Gunners are in pole position to capitalise if Liverpool slip up and allow Arsenal the opportunity to close the gap.
Arsenal and Liverpool have already met once so far this season, playing out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Emirates – with the rematch scheduled for the 10th of May at Anfield towards the end of the campaign.
When we reach that date, the title race could be much closer and that match-up may prove to be the deciding factor in who gets their hands on the Premier League crown in 2025.
Arsenal’s form needs to pick up for that to happen though, and their schedule isn’t getting any easier with a trip to West Ham on Saturday followed by hosting Manchester United in midweek.
