Asda sparks debate with £1 engagement rings as shoppers claim 'I'd say no'

Asda shoppers are debating whether you really can put a price on love after they spotted the supermarket selling an engagement ring that cost just £1.

With Valentine's Day a few days away, the supermarket giant's George Home Fun Novelty Engagement Ring has managed to grab the attention of shoppers - especially its price tag.

Asda took to its Facebook page to confirm the ring, which comes available in a red love-heart shaped box, was officially back in stores. Naturally, the news tickled some shoppers who were a little baffled by it.

With some people jokingly tagging their partners, one person warned their other half: "Don’t even think about it!"

Another shopper asked their partner: "Can you propose with a £1 Asda engagement ring please?"

A second joked: "Don't despair... Asda got you guys." A third said: "Hahaha good idea to buy this to propose with just incase she says NO."

Another commented: "Sorry but if someone proposed with this I'd say no."

However, some shoppers were in support of the affordable ring, claiming it's the thought that counts and not the price.

One wrote: "It doesn't matter the cost it's the thought that goes into it and the love you have for each other."

While a second added: "I think it’s lovely and in these difficult times it may make someone incredibly happy to be given this. It’s the sentimental value not the monetary value of this gesture."

A third commented: "I honestly couldn't care if my husband got me a ring from asda or from Tiffany's. Tbh I'd rather have an asda ring and go on holiday."

If you are considering popping the question this year, then it is worth noting that the George Home Fun Novelty Engagement Ring is currently unavailable online. However, you might be able to check with your local store for stock availability.
