Asda shoppers praise return of 'old school' 90s childhood sweet

Asda shoppers have praised the return of a sweet product that was popular amongst children in the 90s and 2000s.

One customer saw that the supermarket sells Mega Push Pops for just over £1. The hard candy sweet comes in Cherry Pie and Watermelon Punch flavours.

Push Pops are an American brand of fruit-flavored lollipops that originally debuted in 1986. The product's name comes from the fact that the lollipop must be 'pushed' out of its cylindrical container to eat.

The product description on Asda's website reads: "In need of a candy break? Grab a Mega Push Pop! Mega Push Pop is a super-sized delicious lollipop that is spring-loaded to deliver intense flavour action to your mouth.

"Each one comes in a plastic case that has a cap with a clip so you can easily bring it with you anywhere. Eat some now and save the rest for later - wherever you go! Limited Edition American Flavours - Cherry Pie and Watermelon Punch."

The shopper who spotted the American sweet was quick to share the news with other customers online. Writing in the Food Finds UK group, they wrote: "So good! £1.09p in Asda! Worth every penny."

Since being shared, the post has received over 35 likes and almost 30 comments. Asda and Push Pop fans alike were quick to give their verdict.

One shopper called the sweet "old school" (Food Finds UK)

Tagging a fellow user, one said: "Good lord this is very nostalgic. Always getting a push pop or the big sweetie rings from the icy when I stayed at yours!"

"Mind Push Pops from back in the day," a second reminisced.

"Old school these," a third simply said, while a fourth commented: "Lush."
