When you're shopping in the supermarket at the minute, no doubt you're trying to make as many small changes as possible to make a really big difference to your shopping bill. Prices are soaring across the board, but thankfully there are some things that seem to be remaining cheaper in the supermarkets.
One TikToker, @M182729 went down to his local Asda recently to tell shoppers why they shouldn't 'buy pre-packed food'. He then proceeded to show a three-pack of brown onions which cost 79p. He then headed over to the weighing scales for the loose onions to be priced - and he was shocked.

Upon weighing the 79p pack of onions, he realised that the same weight of onions loose would cost just 39p. That's over double the price if you purchase them in a pack.
Often, people will turn to the pre-packed fruit and vegetables for convenience, but if loose are available, if you want to make savings it could be a no-brainer.
In the comments, people were shocked at the price difference, and pointed out that if you saved that much on buying all the things you could loose, it could make a real difference.
One user wrote: "Just shows you - you're paying more for the package than the product!"
"Wow I’m not buying them anymore thanks", one wrote, and another agreed, commenting: "No way! Thanks for this!"
Someone wrote: "You're paying for the packaging and the convenience and the effort to package it."
One TikToker sarcastically wrote: "If only onions already came in some form of packaging that kept them fresh. Thank Christ for that netting they package it in."
"Most useful thing I've ever seen on TikTok", a different user praised.
Another said that it really is true, writing: "I've done this on my till at work, compared prices, and it's true, you're paying almost 50% of the amount you spend on a packet of bananas just on the bag."
