A kind-hearted Asda security guard has gone viral after his reaction to a crying child.
We reported last week how the unknown member of staff was praised for helping a boy who'd become distressed after losing £10 of his parents' money.
Mum Jayde Bond was shopping at the Asda Wythenshawe Superstore on Wednesday evening when she witnessed the guard giving the youngster the money out of his own pocket.
The mum-of-three took to social media to praise his actions and told the Manchester Evening News that his 'generosity was something that deserved to be acknowledged and applauded'.
Now Asda has shared details of the guard, Frank Reece, who stepped in to help and he explained how the incident unfolded.
"The boy, who was about 13 or 14, came up to me and asked if anyone had handed in a tenner as he'd lost it. He had tears in his eyes and looked very upset," said Frank.
"I told him to check customer services, but he came away saying they hadn't got it. I really felt for the lad. His dad had given it to him for shopping so I said 'don't worry' and gave him £10 from my own pocket. I just felt for the lad. My mam always told me to help people whenever I could."
Frank, 54, said after the boy had done his shopping he offered to give him the change, but he told him to keep it.
Thousands of people have reacted to Asda's Facebook post, praising Frank for his 'wonderful gesture'.
"Brought tears to my eyes to know there are still decent people around with a warm and giving heart. Thank you," said one.
While another added: "What a lovely person you are, and what a a lovely mum to bring you up to be such a caring person. You employers are extremely lucky to have you. Well done to you."
The store's security section leader Anthony Finlay says colleagues are equally proud of Frank.
He said: "It was a really nice thing for him to do. He saw that the boy was inconsolable so took a tenner from his own pocket and gave it to him. Frank's such a friendly guy, very jolly and very smiley."
